How do you set up a three story cage for a chinchilla?
I have a little chinchilla that sure knows how to get its bedding everywhere. I put it's bedding on all of the floors but he just kick it out and makes a terrible mess everywhere. I just want to know if you're supposed to put it on every floor or just the bottom one?
S: if he was to pee on the plastic levels would it get all through his fir?
Your chinchilla is just being normal. He is bored inside his cage so this gives him something to do everyday. Give him things to keep him busy on the first level like sections of paper towel rolls to chew up and make a home/nest with. Pieces of paper towels to shred and things like carrot and other safe food to keep him busy and happy all the time. If I was kept in a cage I would love having tons of stuff to do. If there is enough bedding on the plastic levels he shouldn't get full of urine if you keep it clean.
