Chinchilla Degu
Would this make an appropriate Degu Cage?

I can't find any cages with good metal platforms...if you guys have any recommendations, let me know!
Also, what are the advantages of degu over chinchilla, or vise versa. Thanks!
I have this cage for my ferrets, and it is defiantly large enough for a degu.
One issue I see is bar spacing. The spacing is an inch, and a small degu can easily slip through the spacing.
One major and potentially fatal con of this cage is the ability for the animal to drop from the top down to the bottom. If your degu slips, jumps, etc from the top shelf and falls the length of the cage to the bottom pan, it could kill or seriously injure him.
There are some good cages at http://www.martinscages.com/ . Their larger cages have full middle shelving to prevent a fall from the top.
