EMF & Power Transmission pole & lines in our yard danger to health. Would a tin roof protect us from EMF?
Our electric power company erected an 80' tall transmission pole with transmission and feeder power lines on the corner about 100 feet away from our house. We are worried about EMF. To make matters worse, we live on a lake which can reflect back EMF with a multiplier.
Would putting a tin or steel roof on our house with about a 4 foot overhang protect us from the EMF radiation?
I'm not going to get into how baloney this is but...
A tin or steel roof would provide protection if properly grounded. You would have to run wire to securely ground each panel of tin. A more interesting way would be to run small gauge wire and build yourself your own Faraday cage or EMP hardened shelter, cell phones wouldn't work through it.
The important thing to note is that with EMF, metal doesn't act as a shield, it acts as an antenna. That's why you want to have it grounded, so it absorbs the signal and sends it to ground. So holding a sheet of metal flat aginst where the EMF is coming from will absorb little energy, but holding it sideways so the EMF travels along it will get more of the energy absorbed and less will go through into you.
