Do Ceramic Heat emitters produce more heat than a bulb?
I have a new tortoise and am struggling to keep his temperatures up at night. I want to get a ceramic heat emitter but wondering if they put out more heat than a regular light bulb of the same wattage.
For instance I have a 150w bulb and a 100w bulb near/over the basking lamp should I get a 150w ceramic heat emitter? or is that way to much heat?
By the way I have a plastic 3.5' x 2' container about 14-17" high.

CHE's give off a lot more heat than a light bulb because all the energy used is converted to heat without wasting any on light.
If you use a CHE you will need a ceramic bulb holder and heat resistant cable to prevent any risk of fire.
If you connect your CHE through a pulse proportional thermostat you can easily regulate how much heat it gives out, so you can be sure that it doesn't get too hot for your rep.
