Sheppard Greene

Sheppard Greene
Is Mike Tannenbaum a genius?

Since he's been the Jets GM they got Kris Jenkins, Braylon Edwards, Thomas Jones, Lito Sheppard and now Antonio Cromartie for mid round picks, traded up for Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, Dustin Keller, Shonn Greene, and David Harris and dropped the money to sign Bart Scott, Alan Faneca and Damian Woody and Calvin Pace. His only real bust was Vernon Gholston.

His aggressive moves have put together a team with a very young, very talented core and a ton of potential.

The jury is still out on a few of his acquisitions, but the Jets personnel has been good enough to win for about 6 years. Mangini had the pieces of the puzzle to win, but was struggling with injuries to his QB. It will be interesting to see if Edwards can hang onto the ball next season. Cromartie has been playing below potential but could be almost as good as Revis.

Genius might be a bit of a stretch, but he is a capable GM that has put together a very competitive team.

You really can't blame him for Gholston, either. He holds the sack record at one of the top 10 programs in college football history. He went against guys like Joe Thomas and Jake Long to set that record, and he put up freak numbers at the combine. He was never a trouble maker, and was actually very reserved with the media. He really wasn't seen as a gamble, he just didn't pan out. As a Buckeye fan, I hope he ends up on a 4-3 team, just to see if he makes it as a rush end.

I am still not sold on Sanchez. I like the kid, and hope he does well, but he does make some poor decisions that may or may not improve with experience.
