Does any one know ways to keep squirrels away from my birdfeeder.?

It attached to a metal pole about an inch in diameter and stands about 51/2 feet high. I hate feeding the squirrels plus they chase away the birds. Help!!!!

we had our feeder on a metal pole in Illinois and had the same problem until we bought a squirrel guard from Menard's. It is just a plastic dome shape that fits on the pole below the feeder. When the squirrel tries to climb up and over the guard it throws him back down to the ground. You should be able to find them at any home improvement store. I am sure they would also have them at pet stores but they would be more expensive. They are well worth the money in what you save in seed and frustration. They really work!
