Wood Bird
What does it meanif my bird is eating wood and her cage?
My bird has been chewing on her cage and stands for about a month now, she is 9 and has never done this before. she has Food Water and toys to chew. I can't let her out cause she keeps chewing stuff up. help please?
she is a cockateil and no nothing in her territory has changed.
Cockatiels love to chew things, its in their nature. My 2 month old cockatiel has gone through two perches already. As someone said before, all birds chew to help keep their beak healthy. However, since she has only just started chewing things, take her to the vet to get a check up. This will eliminate any potential problems and ensure that she remains healthy. Other than that, I recommend some new plastic toys (if she manages to chew a piece of metal off, it may prove poisonous) and a good balanced diet, including apples, broccoli, snow peas and corn. Never give her avocado, this is toxic to birds. For more diet information, ask a vet for advice.
