Wren House
Can anyone help me with my house wren problem?
I have tufted titmice who have build a nest in one of my nest boxes. I have 4 nestboxes in my yard. One is currently occupied by chickadees with 2-week-old babies.
Two are empty and the house wrens are filling them with sticks. However, they are hassling the titmice, who, fortunately, have not laid any eggs yet! I put up a wren guard yesterday, but it didn't discourage the bird.
Should I put up more wren houses? It seems like the male wren will fill every nestbox he can find with sticks and sing for the female. So, I don't know if buying a few more boxes would help or not.
I answered a similar questions yesterday. House Wrens are very territorial and they will take over nest boxes and will kill eggs and young of other birds even other house wrens. I think you are right I do not think it would do any good to put up more boxes
